Superfund Liability and
Contaminated Site Remediation
We have a national and regional Superfund
and contaminated site practice. Our Environmental
Department regularly counsels and represents
clients on potential liabilities and cleanup
requirements in connection with contaminated
properties. We have represented potentially
responsible parties at many Superfund
sites in different states, including leadership
roles on a number of steering committees.
This work frequently involves representation
of clients in negotiations and proceedings
regarding allocation of liability among
multiple parties. We have played a key
role in negotiating a number of precedent
setting settlements at major Superfund
sites. Our attorneys also have participated
in alternative dispute resolution proceedings
to allocate liability among multiple parties
at contaminated sites, and we have been
retained to serve as common counsel, mediators,
and allocation consultants to groups of
responsible parties. We are also involved
in numerous brownfields redevelopment
projects throughout the U.S.
